March 2022: New changes to Canada Deposit Insurance include an additional $100,000 protection for Registered Education Savings Plans and Registered Disability Savings Plans over an above other types of accounts presently covered. (Coverage already include deposits of up to $100,000 in other accounts such as TFSAs, RRSPs and RRIFs, as well as regular deposits and trusts.)  Deposit insurance only covers Savings and Chequing accounts, Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GICs) and other term deposits, Money Orders and Bank Drafts, Certified Cheques and Foreign Currency (e.g. $U.S.)
